Coca-Cola Braised Chicken Wings

Time saving tip: steps 1 through 3 can be done a day before; day of game just reheat and serve!

Ingredients

2 tablespoons of Rouses Vegetable Oil

16 Rouses chicken wings, dried with kitchen towel

3 teaspoons dried chili flakes

1 scallion chopped (or green onion)

1 teaspoon powdered ginger

1 teaspoon garlic powder

2 tablespoons light soy sauce

2 tablespoons white wine

1 tablespoon red wine vinegar

1 12-ounce can of Coca-Cola

1 bottle of Gold Peak Sweet Tea

½ cup minced onion

1 teaspoon Rouses salt

2 teaspoons of Rouses Creole Cajun Seasoning

1 cup of Rouses BBQ Sauce of your choice

½ cup chopped cilantro or green onion for garnish

Directions

In a large bowl or plastic bag, add the oil, chili flakes, ginger, garlic, ½ can of Coke and mix thoroughly. Add the chicken wings, and evenly coat them, and place in refrigerator for 1 to 8 hours.

Pre-heat oven to 250° F.  In a deep cast iron pan with a lid, mix the remaining ½ can of Coke, 1 bottle of the Gold Peak Sweet Tea, wine, vinegar, salt, onion, Rouses Cajun Seasoning, and BBQ sauce.

Lift chicken wings out of marinade; discard marinade. Transfer chicken wings into cast iron pot, cover with the lid and braise for 1 hour. Using a spider or slotted spoon, transfer wings to a plate.

Heat the grill to medium-high heat. Using grill tongs, dip a wad of paper towels in oil, then carefully rub the grill grate until coated evenly. Grill the wings, flipping occasionally, until they are golden brown, crispy and completely cooked through, about 20 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 165° F.

When finished, transfer the wings to a serving plate and garnish with your choice of cilantro or green onion, and enjoy!
