Top Things to do in The New Year
By April Sins, MS, RDN, LDN
Hydration: Grab a cute water bottle and get hydrating! Challenge yourself to drink less sugary drinks this new year’s, and instead add more water into the routine. Did you know lots of times, when we think we are hungry, we are thirsty?
Lunch Box: Lack of planning often leads to grabbing literally anything to curb our hunger. Blow the dust off the lunch box or grab a new one and start thinking about all the nourishing items that can be packed in it. If you eat what you pack, and you pack some filling nutritious items, you might find yourself more satisfied during the day, and less tired after eating a big lunch from a fast-food stop.
Freezer Packs: If you are going to start packing lunches and/or snacks, grab a couple of freezer packs to keep in rotation.
Containers: Whether it’s a bento box, a reusable plastic container, or a thermos, get the containers to pack those nutritious foods that you are planning to bring with you. Do this now because there is nothing more frustrating than trying to match tops and bottoms to containers when on the go!
Recipes & Shopping Lists: When you shop for the new year, don’t just buy a whole bunch of items with no plan. This can lead to food waste and discourage you from continuing to change your habits into healthier shopping. Instead, make a list of a few things that you want to cook, or what you plan to bring to lunch, and just get those items. If you are making changes, make gradual changes to stay on track.
