In The Community

Our Food Bank Assistance Program works year-round to fight hunger in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. Together with our valued customers and vendor partners, we have been able to make a significant impact, donating nearly 50 million meals to those in need within our local communities since the inception of this program.

Our approach involves collecting both nonperishable food items and monetary contributions at our stores year-round. The funds and food raised through these efforts are channeled directly back into the community, supporting local food banks, food pantries, and community refrigerators across the region. This network of food banks and charitable organizations plays a crucial role in assisting individuals and families struggling with food insecurity throughout the year. We’ve made it convenient for you to contribute—simply scan a coupon at the Rouses register to add to your bill, or opt to purchase a pre-packed Brown Bag of canned goods and drop it into our donation barrel. The food banks then collect directly from our stores.

In addition to these ongoing efforts, we also make substantial donations of both perishable and non-perishable food directly to local food banks. Partnerships with organizations such as Terrebonne Churches United Food Bank, Second Harvest, the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank, and Feeding the Gulf Coast have allowed us to extend our reach and support 24 counties throughout South Alabama and South Mississippi. We actively encourage our vendor partners to join us in this important cause.

Hunger relief is a fundamental aspect of our business philosophy, and we strive to raise funds with our vendor partners through various initiatives such as Frozen Food Month, Ice Cream Month, and Family Meals Month.

As the holiday season approaches, we intensify our efforts with Tackle Hunger Food Drives, conducted in collaboration with the New Orleans Saints and our local media affiliates. With the assistance of Sir Saint, the Saints Cheer Krewe, and former players, we work to collect donations at the store level, further emphasizing our commitment to eradicating hunger in our communities.

Together, we believe that small acts of kindness and generosity can make a significant impact in the lives of those facing food insecurity. Join us in this essential mission to create a hunger-free future for all.

SPONSORSHIP REQUESTS

Partnering with area events is one of the ways we support the communities we serve. In response to the large number of sponsorship requests we get every year, we only review proposals submitted electronically. For consideration, please submit your proposal to Rouses Markets. Your proposal must be submitted at least eight weeks prior to the event, and you must allow Rouses Markets two weeks to respond to your request. We look forward to receiving your proposal.

DONATION REQUESTS

We work daily with local food banks to bring food, funds and hands-on assistance to local hunger relief efforts to our neighbors in need. In 2022 alone, those contributions of food and money provided the equivalent of more than 3 million meals.

Feeding the hungry is our number one giving priority. But each year, we also assist hundreds of local organizations, often with the generous participation of our customers. These are nonprofit organizations, schools and churches working to make the communities we share better places to live and work. Nonprofit and community organizations interested in donations, gift cards or sponsorships for their cause or charitable fundraising event should submit a formal request. You can download a request form here. Return completed donation request form to your local Rouses Market or mail to P.O. Box 5358, Thibodaux LA 70302. Requests need to be received a minimum of eight weeks before events, programs, activities, initiatives or projects begin and must include all the information requested on the application. You will be contacted if your request has been granted.
