Come see — and taste — a piece of history on Wednesday, December 4th, when we go for our second Guinness World Records title by making the largest-ever avocado display. It will take up to 20 hours to prep and build the fruit display— yes, avocados are a fruit, technically a berry — at our store on Tchoupitoulas Street in Uptown New Orleans. An estimated 112,000 individual Hass Avocados from Mexico will be used. The display will be unveiled and officially judged at 10am.
As if the world’s largest Hass avocado display wasn’t enough, Avocados from Mexico will be giving away coupons for 3 avocados for 25¢ on Wednesday. Rouses Markets chefs will also be on hand to sample avocado recipes, including pork carnitas tacos, beef and chicken quesadillas, and guacamole, and teach customers the avaca-dos and avoca-don’ts of fresh avocados. Rouses Sushi Chefs will be teaching customers how to make Dragon Rolls with fresh avocado. Rouses Registered Dietitian will available 1pm to 3pm to discuss avocado nutrition. She will be sampling her recipe for low carb avocado toast made with Sola bread.
There will be additional demos and sampling at the store Wednesday through Saturday, December 7th, including Mexican beer and tequila tastings, and an appearance by the Blue Top taco truck on Thursday.
